Best Web Gallery Rebuilt
October 11th, 2007 Filed in: News & Updates Jump to comments
After several weeks of hard work, I finally completed rebuilding one of my projects, Best Web Gallery. Note, it is a rebuild, not redesign. I literally went to every single site in the gallery and re-captured the screenshots. Now Best Web Gallery is powered by the latest release of WordPress 2.3. Beside of the WordPress upgrade, I also added many new features such as image tooltip, different display modes (thumbnails, full image, and detailed mode), open external link options, and tag cloud. Check out the gallery now and let me know your feedbacks.

Nick,
Nice work on the website!
With all due respect: NOBODY likes to have the links they click to open in a new window. We’re not living the millennium bug anymore, kiddo!

Yo Nick,
The new design looks great man! I like the display option, this is very useful.
And i agree with Tim van Damme…
Keep up the good work!

i don’t mind the new window, in fact i prefer it that way, besides the new window will be on another tab.
so use Firefox, or grab yerself IE 7.

Liking the new design very much Nick :) , will be sending you an e-mail when I get time for an ad spot.

Have you guys removed the thumbnail from the rss feed?
The tooltip and the other layouts are nice. But I always just read the feed and click the stuff from there.

Yeah it’s nice. Certainly a change anyway.

The only complain I have is that there is no image on the rss feed, only the site name
October 11th, 2007 at 9:03 am
Spread the word!
Keep up the good work! ^^

I, too, prefer the thumbnail view in the feed. I won’t click through if the title doesn’t sound “attractive” - and most of them don’t.
Very cool design, though - I love WP!

I love the new design! It’s a lot more professional! Only a few advices:
- the thumbnails show to less view
- the tool-tip also shows to less of the site and comes forward to slow
Those are the only things I would change ;)

Looks good, though it takes a lot longer time to reload now
October 11th, 2007 at 5:40 pm
wow nick this is awesome, great job!

Hey mate,
I’ve been a long time visitor to the gallery. I love the rebuild, I think it looks fantastic and oozes that sense of beauty and usability that the site aims to showcase.
The one thing that I think the original version did better though was the gallery grid view. I preferred the 3×4 grid over the 2×6, it was quicker to browse.
Keep up the great work!

I agree with most of the comments.. working to fix the RSS feed to include the site screenshots.
October 13th, 2007 at 3:58 pm
the new view features are great and the overall design is better, but like what everyone else says, im dying to see the shots in the feed. Also there seems to be many more ads all over, not that its a big deal i guess

Hey Nick, you never fail to amaze me with your awesome designs. Keep up the great work.

The reason why there are no content in the RSS feed because now I’m using WordPress Custom Fields and they don’t output to RSS. Anyone know how to get the Custom Fields to include in the RSS?
October 14th, 2007 at 5:19 pm
Yay, very nice work! :)
October 14th, 2007 at 7:26 pm
I think there should be gaps between each site in the horizontal and list views, but besides that its nice.
October 15th, 2007 at 2:23 am
Hey Nick, do I may ask you what gallery plugin that is? Or is it a self development? The site looks hot although there are a bit to many ads laying around ;)
Keep it up :)

I love it - really perfect!!! I especially love that you can change the layout of it - and the smoothness of the transition when you do. Some things out there are a bit cumbersome. I’m new to WordPress - can anyone give me a hint on how to achieve this?
