I recently came across this site, FreeRice.com, which I thought it is very nice and creative. It is nice because you can learn vocabulary and help end the world hunger. The idea is very creative. This is how it works: you go to FreeRice.com and play their vocabulary game, for each question answered correctly 10 grains of rice will be donated by the sponsors to help people living in poverty. It is a win-win situation - you get to play the game, FreeRice get the traffics, advertisers get their exposure, and people get the free rice. It really is a great idea, I just donated about a 110 grains. I’m Dutch, so a lot of words don’t have any significance to me, but I can still link a lot of words together.

Thanks for posting this. As for how much “they” are making why it should concern anyone? I know it for a fact that money is donated and people will be fed and to me that is all that matters.

You could just use a dictionary :P I admit I did that the first time I played. Overall I’ve donated about 2500 grains(500ish from the dictionary, lol. but whatever, its to help the hungry!!)
they have a group on facebook for anyone whos interested. They’re trying to develop an application for it.

I already knew about this site. My teacher in my english class has us go to this site for the first 15 minutes of class every day. It’s a nice way to rack your brain first thing in the morning.

Do any of you know how many people 10920 grains of rice can serve? Because I am playing currently and I’m just curious to how many people I helped. Also, go to thehungersite.com and you can donate 1.5 cups of rice just by clicking a button! I’m not sure if this is infinite or once daily but it’s still a great site though I think freerice.com is much more fun.

Even if it’s a great idea, I’m among the skeptics. They have donated 18 billion grains of rice already ? And how can they get money from sponsors while this ad-system usually requires to click ? Is there a page with what they have so far ?

This site is great the kids really enjoy it. So do I. The only problem is my 6 year old wants to help too but the problems are to hard for her. Maybe you could add maybe 1st and 2nd grade levels so the younger children could participate also.???

I think it’s one of the coolest for interaction, fun, feeling-being-helpful that I’ve seen yet. There’s only one problem: my computer login’s computers/internet/something won’t let me in - I couldn’t even get to 5000 grains without this weird technical default and I wasn’t taking long!
