Looking for a Better Host
May 26th, 2007 Filed in: News & Updates Jump to commentsI’m looking for a better hosting company to host my sites. Do you have any good ones to recommend? This site and Best Web Gallery are hosting at Media Temple, 512mb dedicated-virtual server. Lately, my sites have been down almost every day. I’m getting very frustrated with Media Temple and I want to move out. I’m tired of restarting my server (VPS) everyday.
Their tech supports told me that my WordPress sites use too much SQL and CPU resources and I should upgrade to higher hosting plan. But I already upgraded three times since hosting with them: from SS (shared hosting) to GS (Grid-Service), then GS to 256mb DV, and now 512mb DV plan. My site has proved that they can’t handle the Digg Effect. Recently I got dugg twice and my site was down immediately as soon it made popular to Digg front page. So, I don’t think upgrading will make any difference. I think it is time to move and find a better host.
Host Requirements
I’m looking for any fast performance host that can support:
- WordPress
- multi-sites hosting
- 500,000+ visitors/month
- 2+ million pageviews/month
- 500GB+ bandwidth/month
What have I found?
I’ve been doing a lot of research and found some highly recommend hosts.
1. Slicehost
Collis at FreelanceSwitch recommends Slicehost to me. They seem to handle WordPress and Digg effect very well. FreelanceSwitch got dugg several times and able to survive without any downtime. However, the waiting list to sign up at Slicehost is between 2 to 12 weeks.
2. Mosso
Uneasysilence switched from Media Temple to Mosso and it has been very stable. Mosso uses their "clustering technology routes each site request to not just one server, but through an army of load balanced IIS and Apache webservers." Everything sounds too good for just $100/month. Has anyone tried their services?
3. Servint
I found Servint through some hosting forums. I have very little information about Servint and would like to hear your inputs.
Have you experienced with any of these hosts? What do you think about them? Or you have better ones to recommend to me. Please post your comments.

Thanks for your information. I hope that hosting is cheaper than the other. I’ll check it soon.
May 26th, 2007 at 9:28 pm
Have you tryed this guide: http://davidseah.com/notebook/configuring-media-temple-dedicated-virtual-server-for-wordpress/
Not sure if it will help, but give it a try..
The Mosso system seams great. Not sure if they are to trust, but no pain, no gain right? Hehe..

Try this one: http://www.servage.net/?coupon=cust25764
I found them through my former clan’s site and this is the hosting that they use. It provides a lot of space and bandwidth. Check it out. Pretty cheap too considering how much they offer.

They are the best!
May 26th, 2007 at 10:40 pm
Oh my god, I am always heard about that MT is the best in this planet…what a pity!

Agree with evitc, see so many professional designer proudly claiming they host at Media Temple, I thought they were one of the upper tier hosts. They can’t survive a digg effect?
My recommendation for host is probably hostgator, reliable, actually no need for the friendly technical support they have, reasonable price, and room to expand.

May 26th, 2007 at 11:26 pm
I’ve had good luck with BlueHost and Jumpline.
May 27th, 2007 at 12:18 am
I think you should buy Dream Host . It is the best host for you . their suppoters asr very good ^^! . I am think it
May 27th, 2007 at 12:23 am
The Problem with MediaTemple is that they dont run the MySQL server locally on each of those grid-server systems, it runs on a seperate system and it handles requests from a lot of grid-servers for SQL queries, WHICH IS CRAP!!
Thats what i found out from the Php dept. at my work. Its not confirmed
May 27th, 2007 at 12:26 am
Supporter of Blue host is ……….. T_T
Dream Host is the best choice
May 27th, 2007 at 12:49 am
I use BrainServers.net but i think your needs might be a little higher then what they are used to. You could send them an email about getting a custom plan though.
May 27th, 2007 at 1:17 am
Dreamhost, Hostgator, or Bluehost will not able to handle it for sure because they are shared host level. I need at least dedicated virtual hosting. Any other suggestions?
May 27th, 2007 at 2:11 am
i think u should try ixwebhosting.com
May 27th, 2007 at 3:22 am
I moved to Jumpline a few months ago. Very happy with the service provided so far.
May 27th, 2007 at 4:05 am
wow! its something new. i was considering media template as best host around infact i was thinking to switch to mt but now i should give it a thought. Nick i am using dreamhost but its not a very good host atleast for you.
May 27th, 2007 at 4:27 am
What about http://www.textdrive.com/
They’re not cheap, but their service isn’t either as far as I’ve heard.
A List Apart is hosted there.
May 27th, 2007 at 4:37 am
If I were you I’d go to the one that hosts FreelanceSwitch. Really, I’ve seen them got Dugg a several times and still I get them fast and I’m using a dial-up internet connection!
May 27th, 2007 at 6:25 am
http://www.cheapvps.co.uk/?page_id=8 , they seem very good, except their support gets rusty for anything more than you should be asking.
But I’m wondering - if you chose not to use WordPress, you’d be fine with a 128MB RAM system ;-]
May 27th, 2007 at 6:35 am
I would go with mosso, especially as youre site gets dugg often and they should be able to handle this.
Milo
May 27th, 2007 at 7:17 am
i recommend you www.hostgator.com, their service is awesome and i really happy with them. For real.
May 27th, 2007 at 9:09 am
Siteground is great and is absolutely the best support I have ever experienced. They have free domain registration, 500 gb of web space, 5000 gb traffic, and fantastico app install all for $6 a month.
Let me know if you go with them and I get a bonus.
May 27th, 2007 at 9:51 am
I use http://www.one.com.
It’s really cheap but also really fast, stable and execellent support
Check the website for more info
May 27th, 2007 at 10:48 am
Not sure if i needs more companies, refferals links, etc.
Everyone of us have some great experience of our host. But others can have some different experince. So if Nick is comfortable with the three listen. Check of those, and make an opinion based on the product the offer.
As writen before, I used (mt) Media Temple before. And they proved somewhat different for me. I got a great product and service. But as you can see here, Nick has experienced the bad side if (mt) Media Temple.
Make take is either Mosso or Slicehost..
May 27th, 2007 at 12:43 pm
http://secure.hostgator.com/cgi-bin/affiliates/clickthru.cgi?id=Nocek
Hostgator is best, I am on a shared server and have had NO downtime in over 2 years! Very cheap plans and worth every penny!
May 27th, 2007 at 12:44 pm
Hostgator also offers cheap dedicated servers.
May 27th, 2007 at 12:52 pm
I have a reseller with http://resellerzoom.com/ They’ve been good to me so far but in my experience all the problems start after the first year.
I wouldn’t know how resellerzoom copes with the digg effect.
One thing I can definitly say is dont go for ace-host.net or webhost2.com! *shudders*
May 27th, 2007 at 1:58 pm
What about 2A Net Hosting: Http://www.2advanced.net. It’s ain’t cheap though..
May 27th, 2007 at 2:50 pm
Ni Nick have you finally chosen one?
May 27th, 2007 at 2:58 pm
I would recommend a managed dedicated server.
May 27th, 2007 at 3:12 pm
FWIW, I have come across this post about someone leaving Mosso for Media Temple…http://urbansemiotic.com/2007/03/25/moving-back-to-media-temple-from-mosso/
Does Media Temple have a server that is larger than the one you have now? Good luck regarless, their have been some good suggestions.
May 27th, 2007 at 3:26 pm
Have a look at Heart Internet (www.heartinternet.co.uk), there best package for you would be the business professional (at approx. £132.99 a year ($263.89)) and it has more than the features you need. See: http://www.heartinternet.co.uk/business-h.shtml for more information.

Been reading the homepage of Slicehost. There product seam cool. The possibility of choosing your GNU/Linux distro. And if you are tired of it, just click a button, and the whole think is reset.
May 27th, 2007 at 6:33 pm
i know many people swear by dreamhost.com. looks like it may be the best one out there.
May 27th, 2007 at 8:21 pm
I use Modhost.com
I’ve been with them for years… they’re great. =)
May 27th, 2007 at 8:28 pm
I have resellerzoom, notrio and Lypha. All of them are ok but my favorite is Lypha.com. I have been with them for about 5 years and they have a really good relation money/service
May 27th, 2007 at 9:32 pm
Mosso does not allow you to have Root Access
May 27th, 2007 at 11:18 pm
Hi,
I would strongly recommend www.joyent.com, if you are into Ruby, the hosting plan also comes with Ruby on Rails installed.
May 28th, 2007 at 2:58 am
At least some of the recent problems on Media Temple have been from DDOS attacks, which aren’t easy to defend against. It shows how popular they are getting though. (http://weblog.mediatemple.net/weblog/category/system-incidents/gs-grid-service-unavailable/)
Everyone has a favorite host they’ll link to, but “able to survive the digg effect” isn’t something you’ll see as a feature.
We’ve been with MT since late last year with very few problems. Dreamhost has a better designed control panel but the hosting is even less reliable. Still, beats the hosts with 20mb for $20/mo.
May 28th, 2007 at 3:02 am
That link got cut off, try http://tinyurl.com/yvp93t

heh -> www.spookedout.com
Great! :p
May 28th, 2007 at 11:02 am
I’m thinking about switching hosts too - granted my requirements aren’t as high as this site’s, but I’ve been developing a new version, using a sub-domain of my existing host and it’s crashed maybe 10 times over the weekend while updating various files.
May 28th, 2007 at 12:07 pm
I’ve been using WestHost (www.westhost.com) for quite a while now and I’ve never had problems with them. They have very good customer support as well.
May 28th, 2007 at 1:19 pm
I use hostnine.com they’ve been hosting my site tutorialstuff.com for a little over a month now and have done a spectacular job. I’ve heard/seen nothing but great reviews about these guys.
May 28th, 2007 at 2:02 pm
I’ve been hosting http://6pins.com on media temple as well, but I’ve been looking into Mosso quite a bit and they look amazing. Everyone I’ve talked to that is hosted by them loves it.
May 28th, 2007 at 3:12 pm
I’m using http://www.aruba.it it’s fast, boundless, five emails boxes and I only pay 28 euros per year (vat included).
Good luck!
May 28th, 2007 at 6:27 pm
I personally use ANHosting/Midphase at http://tinyurl.com/2xsrx9 (yes that is a referral link) but have you tried http://survivedigg.com/?
Regards,
Shane.
May 28th, 2007 at 10:14 pm
Nick, i dont think you would get much help with us guys for host coz we dont have that much traffic on our sites and didnt faced that much trouble, but what i think you should talk to shaun Inman, he is very resourceful guy. he has good contacts also. i noticed ppl here are suggesting general hosts.
May 28th, 2007 at 10:24 pm
well i dont have much idea but i heard rochenhost.com is very nice hosting company, they are hosting joomla community + they got best hosting award from last 1 or 2 years. they do all kind of hosting but you should talk to them for your specific needs.
May 28th, 2007 at 10:36 pm
Talk to asmallorange. They are great guys, I’ve never been happier there. Their top vps would probably suit you.
You might also consider a sponsorship. Might be able to work out a lower rate in return for a tag.
I’ve heard good things about Mosso as well, just been hesitant since MT was such a disaster both times I tried them.
May 28th, 2007 at 11:26 pm
Man, go with big name hosts. Some of the less known hosts are good, but theres a reason hosts like GoDaddy are so popular. It’s like your site for example, its made a name for itself because of the great things it offers.
I’ve used a number of hosts before, but I switched to GoDaddy (dedicated server, mind you) and never looked back. I pay about $100 a month for my plan, Pentium 4, gig ram, 500gb month. I host several other sites and my site is constantly up. Vbulletin forums for several of those sites with VBshout on each (VBshout is a mod which will dry your server up fast too).
Other than that, I’ve heard from several people theplanet.com is another great dedicated server host.
Good luck with the switch.
May 29th, 2007 at 12:26 am
Just try MT’s Plan.
May 29th, 2007 at 1:42 am
I never try all of them, but I also think that you should try Slicehost, since they are proven to handle Digg effect on FreelanceSwitch, and your website had the similar experience.
May 29th, 2007 at 12:10 pm
Try dreamhost, I don’t use it, but some friends say its prety good.
May 29th, 2007 at 12:30 pm
http://vexxhost.com/dedicatedservers.htm
Im getting hosting with them soon when a client pays up
May 29th, 2007 at 1:02 pm
Bluehost.com offers a ton of space and great service. I’d recommend giving them a look to see if it’ll fit your needs.
May 29th, 2007 at 1:29 pm
bluehost.com
great hosting plan
and unrivaled customer service. 24/7 live customer service none of that help ticket bullshit.
May 29th, 2007 at 2:31 pm
My site is hosted on www.hosting2go.nl, I know it’s Dutch but they’re good:
- 1500 MB space(1,5GB!)
- 20 GB traffix (Not Fair Use)
- .nl .com .net .org .info and .eu domainname
- Unlimited POP3/IMAP accounts
- Plesk 7.5 Control Panel
- Frontpage Extentions
- Spamfilter and Virusscanner
- Webmail, 10 MySQL Databases
- PHP (With GD), Perl, ImageMagick
- Servers in The Netherlands (HIX in Helmond)
maybe not much traffix but you can contact them and maybe make a special webhosting package :)
May 29th, 2007 at 6:03 pm
Let me know when you decide. Looking to move all of my websites to a reliable host
May 29th, 2007 at 9:49 pm
Hi Nick, I am with the web hosting company ‘Host Gator’ who are excellent.. I hardly ever have problems with my sites and it’s very cheap. Check them out here http://www.hostgator.com/
May 30th, 2007 at 2:31 am
Hostdime.com is what I use. I get 400GB of space and 4000GB of bandwidth a month for only 12.99 a month. I also can host 20 domains and have unlimited MySQL databases, emails, and excellent uptime. They’re an awesome host with excellent customer service. I highly recommend them.

You won’t be disappointed with Rackspace.
May 30th, 2007 at 8:23 am
Gotta remember, This site gets alot of traffic. So going with hosts like Bluehost probably wouldn’t work out to good for him
May 30th, 2007 at 8:43 am
Use SliceHost, I’m one of their happy customers.
May 30th, 2007 at 9:29 am
Experience with Rackspace was not that great in terms of customer service or getting ahold of someone.
Use Blacksun.ca. I have had a great experience with them.
May 30th, 2007 at 11:55 am
Look at this: www.hoststar.ch
I think is one of the best hosting company ;)
May 30th, 2007 at 2:15 pm

I work with a USA company: SITEGROUND. It’s service is excelent
You can see in www.siteground.com
Best regards from SPAIN!

If you want a relaible host, take a look for softlayer.com.
My site was Dugged and server never went down…
May 30th, 2007 at 4:50 pm
I use Dreamhost. :)
May 30th, 2007 at 5:46 pm
Wow, that is unheard of that media temple being down like that. Good luck on finding a host, I think much of the good host had been mention on this blog.
May 30th, 2007 at 5:58 pm
+1 for Slicehost, best deal around. We have 4 Slices running app servers and databases.
May 30th, 2007 at 9:50 pm
Thanks everyone for your input. I’m still researching and considering. Bluehost, Dreamhost, Hostgator, or any other shared servers are not what I’m looking for. I need at least virtual dedicated server (VPS).
So far, slicehost is highly recommended. However, only issue with slicehost is the waiting list and they don’t have cpanel or plesk admin panel.
Also, thanks for those who emailed me advices and offered me hosting sponsorship.
May 30th, 2007 at 11:39 pm
I hat to mention this company cause I’ve heard of their dirty tricks with domain names, but GoDaddy offers virtual deticated and deticated servers. I can’t vouch for the this service or even their shared service though.
May 31st, 2007 at 2:10 am
I have been very happy with Cirtex Hosting. Their packages have steadily been declining in price and increasing in value over the last couple of years. They have no phone support, but their online support through the ticket system has always been very responsive. They have several shared hosting plans with unlimited bandwidth, unlimited URLs and subdomains, etc. You can either manage all your websites from one cPanel, or get a reseller account and through WHM access give any or each of your sites its own cPanel.
www.cirtexhosting.com
May 31st, 2007 at 2:46 am
For control panel, have you checked Webmin? That is an free alternative to cPanel and Plesk. Slicehost is also planning on launch a 2048slice product this summer. Maybe that will fill your needs better.
May 31st, 2007 at 5:43 am
I use servage.net
Who have been every good to me. Even answered lots of my newbie questions about how SSL works :)
May 31st, 2007 at 12:08 pm
futurequest.net They are the best. I haven’t had one moment of down time, they are the best at answering questions, have a great friendly community, and a great forum http://www.aota.net/forums/
They don’t offer you the world for 9.95, but charge a reasonable rate for top rate service.
May 31st, 2007 at 1:55 pm
Nick, i believe its time for a dedicated server. :)
I believe you definitely need one considering this site is an regular destination for ‘digg effect’ and you already have alexa rank of 7,000.
I think you should stick to MediaTemple (so as to avoid all mess of changing host) and get a dedi box!! :)

May 31st, 2007 at 4:04 pm
I am planning on switching to Dreamhost, from what I have seen on the web, a lot of professional web designers use dreamhost. Wilson Miner is one of them.
And on another note, django is a nice python web framework if anyone is into that stuff.
May 31st, 2007 at 6:32 pm
HostGator offers Dedicated Virtual Servers
We include server management and a control panel with every server! (Most places charge over $100 for this alone)
With a dedicated server you have the power to customize it any way you like, or let us decide for you! Your first choice will be what operating system to run. You can choose from Red Hat Linux 9.0, RHEL3, RHEL4, CentOS, or FreeBSD. Your next step is tell us any additional programs you might require, such as ASP or other.
May 31st, 2007 at 7:06 pm
Nick i recommend you to get host from this company kryptonitehost.com they just great !
talk to them and they give you what you need.
May 31st, 2007 at 7:27 pm
I don’t know too much about hosting but my IT guy recommended http://www.liquidweb.com/ to me and I do know they have a cpanel. He said they have great support. Good luck!
May 31st, 2007 at 8:20 pm
I’ve just switched my dedicated server over to FastServers.net and I’ve been very impressed with them. If you’re looking for high end stuff and don’t mind paying the extra price tag, I’d highly recommend giving them a look over. It’s worth it.
May 31st, 2007 at 10:36 pm
Nick,
In my opinion, Dreamhost is the best. I’ve been with them for around 4 months and I’ve never had any down time. The prices are great and the packages are unbelievable.
Also, I can get you around a $50 discount because I’m a member with them. So if you’re interested, let me know. Good luck man.
June 1st, 2007 at 11:15 am
Rackspace.com - simply the largest and best host we have found. We host literally thousands of sites with them that get millions of pageviews.
June 1st, 2007 at 4:07 pm
I have the same service as you but instead of using the default server configuration that media temple has, I’ve asked them to give me the server without plesk and no default configurations.
I have hired a linux server administrator specialist here in my small town in Argentina, he installed ISPconfig to manage all the accounts and configurations (ispconfig.com is a free gnu/gpl software).
I never had any problem in 6 months.
cheers.
June 2nd, 2007 at 2:53 am
Well, I have been using JaguarPC www.jaguarpc.com for a while and they provide an excelent support if you need it, I have a VPS and it’s never down or running bad scripts.
You can try with www.hostgator.com I know they are good, and I also tried their services before, excelent support, excelent hosting, good prices.
Good luck!
Bye

khost.eu is the best solution for you, very friendly and cool support, full custom services, as you request, contact them by live support located at khost.eu.
June 2nd, 2007 at 8:35 am
Hi,
Long time reader; first time poster.
I use Dreamhost and they are the nuts.
They have a very comrehensive package. I am a designer, not very technical at all, but their admin system is really straight forward. Its really easy to set up sql and other complex stuff like that. When I say complex I mean complex for a numpty like me.
On the one occasion I had to use email support, which was because I lost a password, I got a very prompt response. I wouldn’t consider using anyone else.
June 2nd, 2007 at 8:44 am
Ok..
Everyone stop recommending shared hosts or small-time hosts because they just wouldn’t do justice. Shared hosting is, well, shared hosting. Every shared host has limits on resource usage which includes bluehost and such.
His only option would be to get a really good VPS or a semi-entry level dedi box. Wordpress uses a lot of resources and during a digg effect, the SQL queries should do justice to the server.
I’d really like you to move onto a dedi box. maybe you can share one with 2 more friends.
RackSpace is the best in the dedi-box business. Or you may go with dedis from hostgator, theplanet.
Or if the budget worries you, just go with the “System” from www.mosso.com. They’re related to RackSpace so I know they’re great. You don’t get root access or Cpanel, but thats not what you are looking for anyways.
June 2nd, 2007 at 6:28 pm
site 5.
i used to have mediatemple. i had no complaints other than it was relatively expensive and there were some limitations i wasn’t aware of (but i guess that’s my own not-going-to-read-the-small-print fault).
go with site5.com - you get ridiculous amounts of space and bandwidth for cheap. they have a ridiculously simple interface and are just generally awesome.
do it.
June 2nd, 2007 at 7:21 pm
Hi there, i’ve noticed that your site’s been down a few times lately and can highly recommend site ground (my hosting co.) check them out and good luck, brian.

Not sure if its right for you but I currently host with http://www.invinta.com - They offer dedicated servers if you contact them.
June 2nd, 2007 at 9:39 pm
I would absolutely have to say Voxxit/VoxRox. Voxxit is good for managed servers, while VoxRox is for you to manage yourself — from VPS to dedicated servers. They are owned by the same company, and can be found at http://www.voxxit.com/ and http://www.voxrox.com/. I am with them myself and have had nothing but tremendous experiences with them. Feel free to e-mail me if you need any further info. The price is certainly worth it.

I would also like to add that you may find it helpful to know that Voxel (http://www.voxel.net/) helps out with Sourceforge (http://www.sourceforge.net) as a mirror, and also hosts numerous high-priority websites, such Club 977, a hit Internet radio station.

Oops! My bad, in my first post I said Voxxit/VoxRox, brain fart on my part! I meant Voxel/VoxRox (http://www.voxel.net and http://www.voxrox.com/).

Not many hosts can handle the digg or slashdot effect without some extra setup… Those are literally DDoS attacks on the server. The more popular the article is the worse the “attack.”
You should go with a dedicate server, not a VPS or anything lower. A decent dedicate server can handle everything you asked and more. Go with a big company with a lot of resources behind. There isn’t much wiggle room when it comes to dedicated server pricing. You get what you pay for.
http://www.webhostingtalk.com/ is a good place to start looking.
If you expect more digg type of traffic, you need to let the host company know ahead of time, if possible. A good company can take some measures to (try to) prevent the traffic from overwhelming the server.
Sorry for repeating if it’s already mentioned, too many pages of comment to read…
Good luck.

I’ve had a really good experience with ZZ Hosting: my sites have been up every day since last September, I have 20GB of space and 100TB of transfer for $8.50 per month. Not a bad deal, really, plus I can host all my sites there. :)

Oh yeah, their web address is zzhosting.com. It doesn’t look like much, but their hosting packages are great. ^_^

You could always try THEPLANET.com, they have a great selection of different servers to choose from. GoDaddy.com might be able to serve your needs as well.

www.1and1.com is awesome. My developers have been using them since 2004 and none of the sites have ever been down. My agency has used them for every web project since then too. Check them out.

Hello everyone,
Thanks for all the comments. I no longer need to find a new host. www.imhosted.com is now my hosting sponsor. Please read this post for more details.

I currently host on the MT grid platform and was thinking about upgrading to their dedicated virtual. I guess I’ll look elsewhere. I too am tired of the outages but haven’t had time to move.

I’ve had similar issues with Media Temple. I just switched my company and clients over to Mosso about a week now, nothing to complain about so far *knock on wood*

I Strongly recommend Powweb. Is the hosting where my homepage is and it has a perfect service. Better than always webhosting and amen.

http://www.layeredtech.com/ - It’s unmanaged but I can recommend a great server admin. We use bandwidth in hundreds or terabytes per month, so have had every version of hosting problem you can imagine. Apparently one of the big search engines host here.

Your designs are absolutely gorgeous! I can recommend the host that I use.
lunarpages.com I have used them since May. They give a great deal of webspace for about $8 a month.

I used ServInt for awhile. They are great at what they do — I can especially recommend their managed VPS plan. The support is really top notch, and there is a great community around them. Last time I checked, they were still kind of old world, requiring some paperwork for billing. Not sure about the Digg effect, but I bet if you called them up and asked them, they’d be straight with you.

I’m on a MT dedicated server, I got Dugg and the site keeps going down.
Any suggestions, anyone?
I thought MT could handle it; obviously they can’t. And when I contact support, they just send me links to Knowledge Base articles on config hacks for Apache.
Useless.

I’ve been with cybrhost for about 4-5 years now and have nothing but praise for them. I can call or use their helpdesk 24-7 with questions, no question too small. Never had an outage. Comes with a lot of software included including Miva and you can upgrade very easily as well. Just my 2 cents.

I suggest slicehost.

Worst hosting is Godaddy. Unusual hosting restrictions, slowlest support service. No refund, no guarantee, no shame to provide deficient service. Get out from Godaddy Hosting, you’ll lose your money. Total fake. Unprofessional. If you think their hosting services are like their registrar services, you’ll be very disappointed.

Kryptonite Host has been a nightmare thes last couple months- they have been double charging me each month, they have NOT responded to a single support ticket since Nov 2008, except to promise a refund, then never do it while still double and even triple charging me. I tried canceling, I had to do it multiple times before it would go thru. they seriouly need to get their act together. Good luck. I’d switch hosts but they drained my budget for now.

I have recently switched to Media Temple Grid Service and it’s pathetic to say the least, they’ve promised no “bad neighbour affect” and no downtimes.
And when I see “Database Error” they always tell me something like … A Bad Neighbour Affect or Grid Problem.
Looks like I will have to keep looking for another firm which can give me some peace.

I have found that a great and stable VPS or dedicated server host can be hard to come by, but it may be worth checking with the company directly to see how attentive they are to your questions and requests up front. If the contact through their website is up to your expectationsm, then you have a better chance of finding a host with a friendly environment that the entire staff will be there for you.
